Attendance Protocol

Please plan to attend all your classes every week. This is your opportunity to learn as much as possible in the time we have allotted!  Be present and ready to learn for every moment of it!
That said - if you truly cannot attend a class either due to a real emergency or prior commitment you've already communicated with the TT Conservatory administration, please make sure you notify via email BOTH the TTC attendance email account and any teachers who'll be affected by your absence.
In other words, send a brief email letting us know the reason for your absence BEFORE class begins to ttca[email protected] and copy your applicable teachers.  The email addresses for all faculty members can be found on your student dashboard.  Please keep in mind the following policy:
"Absent" - means you've communicated before class about your absence.
"MIA" - means you're missing from class and we've received no communication.
"Late" - means you're arriving after the teacher has begun teaching the class.
  • More than 3 Absences in a course during one semester = a faculty review
  • More than 2 MIA's in a course during one semester = a faculty review
  • Late 3x = 1 MIA
What's a faculty review?  A faculty review simply means your teacher reaches out to the administration to express concern about your attendance hindering your performance in his/her class and the administration and / or faculty member then sets up a time to meet and discuss with you.  Really, we just want to learn what's going on so we can offer any guidance necessary to ensure you get back on track!  If the student fails to make recommended adjustments and attendance issues persist, his/her grade will be affected.

Grading Rubric

Students will receive a mid-year progress report and a final transcript according to the following grading rubric.  Teachers will communicate with any student they feel is in jeopardy of not passing a course to ensure the student is aware and has the opportunity to make changes before any final grades are confirmed.  If a student wishes to appeal a grade on the mid-year progress report or final transcript, they may do so by emailing Executive Director, Emily Moulton at [email protected] within five (5) days of receiving the grade with a detailed explanation of why it should be appealed.  The Executive Director will then act on the appeal accordingly and any decision made will be final.
Please note that faculty for different courses will value different aspects of your work differently to add up to your final grade.  For example, in movement class, your attendance may be 50% of your grade, your journal 25% and your final presentation 25%, while in theater history, your attendance may be 25%, while your in class work is 25%, your homework is 25% and your final presentation is 25%.  It's up to the teacher. If you're not sure how your work in a given course is being assessed, ask your teacher for clarification!
